The trio discovered an old, dusty scroll showing the layout of Birgu’s bastions which overlap each other so that the knights could fire at any enemy soldiers trying to climb up on ladders and the heavy chain blocking Birgu Creek. As Nicholas used his map-reading skills, they worked out hidden routes and secret chambers within the fortifications. This exercise not only improved their problem-solving skills but also revealed the strategic complexity of Malta's defences. With this knowledge, they found their way back to the main path, their minds enriched with historical insights.
