Deciding to follow the Knights, the children stealthily trailed a group of armoured warriors through the tunnels. This led them to a hidden overlook, where they watched a strategic planning session. Following the Knights' discussions on defence tactics and hearing their tales of past battles provided the trio with a vivid understanding of the military acumen of the Knights of St. John. After absorbing these lessons, they quietly slipped away over a drawbridge
Running across the drawbridge, they had a sudden feeling that they were home. The smells and sounds were familiar, but how they saw them had changed. Looking back they saw the drawbridge lifting back up, and they knew they wouldn't be able to continue their adventure but they did not care. Their experience in the tunnels had deepened their appreciation for their shared history. They would never look at the bastion the same way again, forever thinking of the strategic importance of its gates and those who had passed through them before. They all agreed, that was a good thing.
