Alfonso sailed towards the historic city of Senglea, named after Grand Master de la Sengle who hurriedly built bastions round the ‘island’ (Isla) to protect its people before the Turkish Ottomans arrived to invade Malta.
Captain Alfonso steered his boat to Senglea where he swiftly pulled up for the children to jump ashore, leaving the Ottoman guards looking on angrily from Birgu on the other side. As the galley sped away out of reach of the Ottomans, the friends now had to decide what to do, and how to get back home to Birgu
